Featured ItemsRue's Golden Depression Era Candlestick (FIRST FROM TEXAS HOUSE!)
We’re listing this under “Manhattan Apartment” because that is the only house category we have here on estateofrue.com – and we have no idea how one goes about adding another category to the page – but this piece actually came from Rue’s California house via her Texas house. This is the first item we are posting from Rue’s Texas house, too! After six years we are FINALLY ready to start digging into that mountain of stuff. What happened is when Rue sold her California house, she shipped the contents down to her Texas house in an 18-wheeler truck; and to this day much of it is still in the boxes she and a friend packed almost 20-years ago! Get ready for a whole new supply of Rue McClanahan treasures. First up is this golden Depression Glass candlestick. It is 2.25″ tall and has a 3.5″ base. Rue’s candlestick comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$175Rue's Framed American Indian Piece From ENRON Collection (Oh, dear!) (*UPDATE)
Rue felt a deep spiritual connection to the Native American People. She carried some Indian blood in her own heart, and she was proud of that fact, but it was more than that for her. The struggles they endured, their connection to Mother Earth and all of its inhabitants, and their creativity and craftsmanship all connected with her old soul. Rue loved this framed piece – a print of a drawing done in 1833 by an artist accompanying a prince on an expedition. Rue loved it because it was actually drawn in the moment, she loved the authenticity of the piece. This piece first hung in her California home and then later in her Manhattan apartment. The framed print measures 18.25″ x 24″ and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
*UPDATE – We came across a photograph of Rue wearing one of her Native American treasures with this picture on the wall in the background. We posted it at the end and will include a print with this item.
$475 NOW $237.50Model and Designs For Rue's Doll
At one point after she moved back to New York City, the plans were in the works for Rue to release her own doll. We aren’t sure if the company that made this particular doll was the company she was working with, or if she was just using this one as a template for her doll, but this is the piece Rue was creating off of. Inside the box we found Rue’s original sketches and notes for the wardrobe design for her own doll. Naturally, the outfits are all things Rue wore and had in her own closet. This doll measures 16″ tall and about 4″ wide. The doll will come with Rue’s original design sketches and measurement notes – perhaps you can sew and complete Rue’s ideas? – and also a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$225Signed Publicity Still From 1970 Movie
Do you remember Eli Wallach? He made a zillion movies and worked right up until the end of his long life. He was married to the beautiful and equally talented Anne Jackson for something like 60 years. Mr. Wallach was a real winner in the game of life. Rue was friends with the couple for many decades. She and Mr. Wallach worked together for the first time in 1970 when they made the movie “The People Next Door.” Rue wrote about the movie, and one of her hilarious lines from the script, in her memoir – “My First Five Husband…And The Ones Who Got Away” – and this original 8″ x 10″ signed publicity shot was reprinted in the book. In fact, the publishers sticker is still on the back of this picture. Rue’s signed publicity still – signed by both Rue and Eli Wallach – comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

I remember the day Rue bought an espresso machine and used this fancy cup to drink the first one she made. Rue’s fancy schmancy demitasse cup measures 2″ high and 2.5″ across, and the matching leaf shaped saucer is 4″ across. Rue’s lavender cup and saucer come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
