Featured ItemsOriginal Martha Swope 8" x 10" Stage Shot
Martha Swoop is one of the most prolific and successful dance and theatre photographers in the world. This is an original rehearsal shot that she took of Rue in her early career. If we knew who the man was, we could figure out the show. Do you know? We’re thinking this may be “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” but Rue looks a little too young for her turn as Martha. If you know, please email us at email@example.com. Ms. Swoop stamped this piece, so it is clearly marked as one of her photographs. Remember, because the photographer is famous, the piece is already highly collectible, but when you add in that it was OWNED by the Rue McClanahan, the provenance goes off the chart! Rue’s Martha Swoop original 8″ x 10″ comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$325 NOW $162.50Original Framed 8" x 10" taken at "The Golden Girls" 100th Episode Coconut Grove Bash [SOLD]
The producers of “The Golden Girls” – Danny Thomas’ son and Marlo’s brother, Tony Thomas, and the married couple Susan Harris and Paul Witt – threw a big bash for the “Girls” on the occasion of their 100th filmed episode. They gave each of them an inscribed gold Tiffany & Co. watch at the event, too. Here is a professional 8″ x 10″ photograph from the celebration that Rue kept in her home office. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$225Rue's "Nunsense 2" Cast and Crew Jacket [SOLD]
Remember when Rue and Betty played nuns on that hurricane episode of “The Golden Girls?” Well, turns out it was good practice for later years when Rue would play a nun in many “Nunsense” productions – and if you haven’t seen them they are hilarious. She loved working with the show’s creator, Danny Goggin, and was always willing to say ‘yes’ when he called for the next sequel. We found Rue’s “Nunsense 2″ coat in the hall closet of her Manhattan apartment and there was a terrible error on it. Monogramed on the front was “The Reu” instead of “The Rue!” I was so embarrassed for Mr. Goggin, I mean, he runs such a professional organization I couldn’t believe they would make such a silly mistake. I called him to ask what the heck had happened – he just returned from a production of “Nunsense” at the Muny in St. Louis for over 5,000 people, so I’m sure he really wanted to hear me calling to complain about monograming – and he said, “Um, it isn’t “The Reu” it is “The Rev,” with a v, because she played the Reverend Mother and everyone called her “The Rev.” Why isn’t there a reverse button in real life? So, here is Rue’s coat and I am still a dork! Comes with prints of the photos shown, one of Rue’s copies of the DVD, and a Certificate of Authenticity.
$275Setof Polaroids From Rue's Madame Role
We aren’t sure, but we think these Polaroids are from a movie Rue made in 1995 entitled “Blackbird Hall.” We know the Polaroids are from a movie she made when she was playing a madame, but we can’t find anything about the movie online to confirm that it is the correct film. Anyway, the Polaroids are fabulous, right? We also found a few stills from the production and we’ll include prints of those. Rue’s three original Polaroids will appear on one Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$225 NOW $112.50Rue's Large Framed Original Drawing of Shubert Alley
This original pencil drawing of Rue’s is quite large – the framed piece measures 22.75″ x 31″. It depicts Shubert Alley in the Broadway District of Manhattan and it was done in September of 1979 by an artist named Andreas Heise Bergamo. Mr. Bergamo could draw! Rue’s 36-year-old framed original drawing comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue. Because it is so large, and covered in glass, we are only going to ship within the continental United States, unless you are willing to scrap the frame, and then we’ll roll it and ship it anywhere in the world.
$450 NOW $225The Love Birds
Don’t you just love love? Rue simply adored love, and she particularly enjoyed falling in love and those early giddy stages where it was all you could think about. It is during that time when everything you see – even two little carved seagulls – reminds you of your love. Rue bought these carved wooden gulls during a trip to the ocean with her new love back in the late ’90s and then wrote their names on the bottoms of the pieces. This pair of love birds are between 7 and eight inches tall, over 5 inches wide, and just over 4 inches deep. The pair come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
