We don’t know what to say about this piece. You can see it in the corner of the hutch in the background of the photograph taken of the bookshelf. It is obviously handmade, and the closer you look the more detail and beauty is revealed. It is in perfect condition and we wish we knew who the “ER” inscribed on the bottom belongs to. The thing about Rue was she was a wealthy woman who liked to spend money on art and sometimes she’d spend a tremendous sum on a piece and you might not necessarily guess it by simply looking at it. For example, she spent over $4,000 on that bookcase being photographed (and it is stunning, but do you see what we mean?). It is 13″ tall with a 5″ handle, and it is 6.5″ at its widest with a 3.5″ base. We might be letting a treasure go for a song here, but everything has to go and no one can identify who made this. If you know anything about the piece, please let us know. In the meantime, Rue owned it so it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue, but otherwise we know nothing about its value.
