An Early "Doodle" From Rue's Collection [On Hold]
This is a very early “doodle” from Rue’s collection. You can see many of the design features and shapes that she would use over and over throughout the years in this early piece, and there is a definite joy to the drawing that remained constant all the way through her “doodling” career. This original drawing is 9″ x 12″ and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Trash Basket From Rue's Home Office [On Hold]
You can see this trash basket on the floor of the home office in Rue’s Manhattan apartment next to Rue and her bestie, Sue. The piece measures 12.5″ tall and is 12.5″ wide, too. We don’t think this was necessarily made to be a trash basket, but that is what Rue used it for. The piece will come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue Made Faux Fur Hat [On Hold]
Rue made this hat using a fluffy faux fur. The piece is lined with what appears to be off-white flannel. It is a fun piece that requires a certain character to pull off. Most of us look like a Cossack when we put it on, or like we ought to be leading a marching band, but somehow Rue always looked regal in the piece, like Joan Collins, and that is a talent! Rue’s fluffy faux fur hat comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Cat-Peeking-Over-Shelf Piece [On Hold]
We always look for pictures of Rue with the items that we post, and we were thrilled when we found this little cat statue in PERFECT photographs because the cat is peeking in on the edge or at the top of the frame. What a hoot! The porcelain piece measures 9.5″ deep, it is 4.25″ wide and 4.5″ high. Rue’s peeking cat comes with prints of the photos posted and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Hardbound and Soft Cover Albee Play [On Hold]
Rue was a fan of Edward Albee; who isn’t? She knew Mr. Albee personally, and actually introduced me to him at the Drama Desk Awards one year. I had read some of his early work in the ’70s and thought he must be a mad man, so it was a pleasant surprise to find him completely normal and seemingly sane. Here are two versions of the same play from Rue’s library, one softcover and the other hard. The hardbound volume belonged to someone Rue worked with on a project and she signed it over to Rue – there is in inscription in the front, as you can see – and that was when Rue first came to know the work of the writer many consider to be the best living playwright alive today. Rue’s pair of Albee plays come on the same Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Original Photographs Given To Rue By Brad Davis From "Midnight Express" [On Hold]
Rue adored the late actor Brad Davis, and from all accounts the feeling was mutual. Rue and Mr. Davis did theatre together in New York City in the ’70s, and then Mr. Davis lived at Rue’s home when he first moved out to California. Not only did Rue love him personally, but she considered him one of the finest young actors of his generation. Brad Davis starred in the powerful movie “Midnight Express” – if you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend you stop reading this and add it to your Netflix queue immediately! – and he gifted Rue these original stills from the production. The photographs measure 10″ x 6-6.75″. We are including an original 4.5″ x 3.5″ snapshot from Rue’s personal photo collection of the two of them and others at the Cannes Film Festival in 1978. We’ll also include prints of the two photos of Rue and Brad showing them on stage together in New York City and in Rue’s garden in California. This mini photo collection will appear on one Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
