Featured ItemsRue's Whistle From "Annie" (And Dog Rescue!)
Rue played Miss Hannigan in a production of “Annie,” and she absolutely loved playing the part. Her character was a child-hating alcoholic who runs an orphanage, so what isn’t to love? Anyway, one of the accessories her character used to keep the kids in line was a whistle, and this is one of two that Rue used when she played the part. The whistle also played a role in rescuing a dog when Rue ran out into the street to slow cars down to protect the stray – see “New York Times” blurb posted. Rue’s whistle from “Annie” – and her hero dog rescuing activities – comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$225 NOW $112.50Large Natural Brazilian Garnet [SOLD]
This rather substantial stone would make an excellent cocktail ring, solitaire necklace, pin, or single earring for those who wear them. Rue picked the gem up during a cruise along the Amazon river. It measures 3/8″ long and just short of that wide, and is about 1/4″ thick. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$150Rue's 1976 Playbill From "A Chorus Line" (And a Story)
“A Chorus Line” opened on Broadway in 1975, and by 1976 it was already touring. It held the record for longest running Broadway Show for over 20-years. Rue was in “Maude” at the time and living in Los Angeles so she had to wait to see it until it opened there. Luckily, some of the original Cast transferred from Broadway to the Los Angles production and so Rue was able to see “A Chorus Line” with Donna McKechnie in the role that made her famous – “Cassie.” Rue could spot talent, so after the performance she went back stage and made a beeline for Ms. McKechnie. With Rue’s dance and acting backgrounds, she knew that Ms. McKechnie was the real thing. Donna McKechnie jotted her number down for Rue on the front of her Playbill and here it is – 40 YEARS LATER! This piece of Rue McClanahan and Donna McKechnie and Broadway history comes with prints of the photos shown and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
By the way, I was recently at an event here in Manhattan and ran into Donna McKechnie – see the photo posted. She looks great, right?
$150Setof Polaroids From Rue's Madame Role
We aren’t sure, but we think these Polaroids are from a movie Rue made in 1995 entitled “Blackbird Hall.” We know the Polaroids are from a movie she made when she was playing a madame, but we can’t find anything about the movie online to confirm that it is the correct film. Anyway, the Polaroids are fabulous, right? We also found a few stills from the production and we’ll include prints of those. Rue’s three original Polaroids will appear on one Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
