Rue's Fabulous St. John Outfit from "Law & Order" [SOLD]
I was with Rue the day the wardrobe mistress from “Law & Order” took her shopping, and this outfit cost over $4,000! Can you imagine? Anyway, as per her contract, Rue always got to keep her costumes, and since she was playing a wealthy Park Avenue widow – who supposedly had an illegitimate son with President Kennedy – Rue steered the wardrobe mistress to the St. John Flagship Store on Fifth Avenue (she knew she wanted something she would wear again – smart Rue!). Here it is, four fabulous pieces. The pants and jacket are both size 14, the top is “L” and the studded, rhinestoned encrusted tie is 5.5″ long. Immediately after filming the episode, Rue wore the jacket and tie to the “Sordid Lives” release party – those pictures are of her with her co-stars and the series/movie creator. We realize that this is a pricier item on the site, but the reality is – even if it weren’t owned by Rue McClanahan – this outfit is a STEAL at twice the price!

Rue Made Faux Fur Hat
Rue made this hat using a fluffy faux fur. The piece is lined with what appears to be off-white flannel. It is a fun piece that requires a certain character to pull off. Most of us look like a Cossack when we put it on, or like we ought to be leading a marching band, but somehow Rue always looked regal in the piece, like Joan Collins, and that is a talent! Rue’s fluffy faux fur hat comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Shell From "Generation Gap"
Rue wore this shell in a movie she made with Ed Asner entitled “Generation Gap.” She adored Mr. Asner and had a real hoot working with him on the movie; as evidenced by the behind-the-scenes photo posted which was shot of them goofing off between takes. Even though the piece was designed by “Liz & Co.,” the blue knit top was altered by either the costumer for the movie, by Rue, or by both of them. It appears the lace trim was added along the neckline, and that was probably done by the costumer due to the quality of the stitching. There were gussets added to the sides to give it more room, and that was possibly done by Rue, since she did that to most of her tops. And the sleeves were roughly chopped off since the top was being worn under a coat – transforming it from a long-sleeved sweater to a shell – and that was almost definitely done by Rue since she HATED being too hot and was not afraid to attack a piece of clothing with scissors if she was cooking under the bright lights. Rue’s “shell” from the movie “Generation Gap” comes with prints of the photos posted and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Golden Cup and Saucer
Rue could be a glamour girl when she wanted to be, and when she wanted to be a glamour girl she would drink her tea or coffee out of this golden cup and saucer. Do you have certain pieces you use depending upon your mood? Well, Rue did. This piece measures 4.75″ across from the edge of handle to the opposite side cup lip, and 2.25″ high. The matching saucer is 5.75″ across. Rue’s golden cup and saucer comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Mini Avon Breast Cancer Awareness Pin
I think I’ve told you this story before: I remember when Rue told me about her battle with breast cancer. It was a beautiful spring evening and we were riding in the back of a limousine through Central Park. She told me about the fear when she was first told the news, how she almost fainted, and about the horrors of treatment. However, the story had a happy ending because Rue McClanahan beat breast cancer and was alive to sit in the back of that limo with me and enjoy the gorgeous spring foliage in Central Park. Rue gave a lot of herself to support breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis, and support for the victims of the wretched disease. This is a mini-pin that Rue used to wear on her lapel. The pink ribbon was made by Avon and it measures one inch long. Rue’s breast cancer awareness pin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
