“The Golden Palace” only lasted one season. It is a good show, but it doesn’t have the magic of “The Golden Girls.” Was it Bea? Was it the writers? Was it the house versus the hotel? Who knows? We do know that for that brief season in 1992 Rue, along with other cast and crew members, received a sweatshirt from the producers, and here it is. There are makeup stains and even some of Rue’s stray hairs along the collar because Rue wore it when she was cold and getting ready in hair and makeup to shoot an episode. We found it at the bottom of her Manhattan closet – you can see it on the shelf with some other sweatshirts during the initial inventory, and you can see all “The Golden Girls” marabou mules on a lower shelf in the same shot – and even though she wore “The Golden Girls” sweatshirts many times over the years, we don’t think she EVER wore this sweatshirt from “The Golden Palace” again. Too painful? Maybe. Comes with two 8″ x 10″ prints of the cast photos shown and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
