As far as television history goes, it probably doesn’t get much rarer than this item. When “Maude” went off the air, Norman Lear developed the series “Apple Pie” as a vehicle for Rue – whom he loved. I spoke to him about it last year and he said the network didn’t give it enough time to catch on because he thought, just like “All in The Family,” it would find its audience. Rue blamed the failure on several reasons, chief among them being the difficulty of working with a male lead that acted like a prima donna (no names mentioned). Anyway, the show shot eight episodes, but only two of them ever aired. This is Rue’s original script holder and an original script signed by all the cast members – including the pain-in-the-ass. Comes with a 4″ x 6″ still of Rue from the show and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
