Rue’s favorite dance company was Pilobolus, have you ever heard of them? She attended their shows from the 1970′s until the year before she passed away. They are a modern dance troupe that take dance to the level of high art. Rue didn’t think there was anything else like Pilobolus in the world until she discovered the Cirque du Soleil when they were visiting Manhattan one year – she never missed a chance to go from that moment forward. Even though Rue was an actor, she started as a dancer and never lost that fascination with what our bodies can do. In that black and white photo posted at the end, you can see Rue and her fellow dancers were doing early creative, “modern” dance way back in the 1940s at Jacob’s Pillow. Here is a little memento that Rue bought herself during a visit to the Circus; it is 1.25″ x 1.5″ pewter keychain with a 1″ ring. Rue’s Cirque de Soleil keychain comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
