Featured Items"The Golden Girls" Cast & Crew Gift for 1987 [SOLD]
This cast & crew gift from “The Girls” to all those that helped them make the show happen is over 25-years old. Items like this cause us such difficulty with pricing. On the one hand, it is Rue McClanahan’s ONLY saved cast & crew gift from the 1987 Season of “The Golden Girls,” and how do you put a price on that? There is only one of these in the world – that belonged to Rue – and once it is gone, it is gone forever. On the other hand, it is just an old brass key chain and those are a dime-a-dozen. So, we spin the wheel in our heads and pick a number. We are either deluded in thinking this thing is worth this much money, or we are the biggest fools on Earth since it will sell for a zillion dollars someday at some big auction house. Please help and guide us Rue! This item measures 3.75″ long by 1.5″ wide – it is big! Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$800Gift from Bea Arthur [SOLD]
This is a very difficult piece to let go of because it was one of Rue’s prized possessions, but Rue’s son intends to follow his Mother’s final wishes and make ALL of her personal property available to her fans – except family items of sentimental value that he selected. Bea Arthur had this sterling silver and 14kt gold pin custom made for her friend Rue McClanahan way back during the “Maude” years. Both their friendship and their working relationship continued for many more years – the friendship until Bea died, in fact – and there were many more gifts exchanged during that time, but Rue said this was the one she cherished most. There was something about a talented, professional like Bea recognizing and setting down in silver and gold that she thought Rue was a star that really touched Rue’s heart. The pin measures 1″ x 1.5″. We’ll include prints of some of Rue’s personal photos showing the two ladies together and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$2,000Model and Designs For Rue's Doll
At one point after she moved back to New York City, the plans were in the works for Rue to release her own doll. We aren’t sure if the company that made this particular doll was the company she was working with, or if she was just using this one as a template for her doll, but this is the piece Rue was creating off of. Inside the box we found Rue’s original sketches and notes for the wardrobe design for her own doll. Naturally, the outfits are all things Rue wore and had in her own closet. This doll measures 16″ tall and about 4″ wide. The doll will come with Rue’s original design sketches and measurement notes – perhaps you can sew and complete Rue’s ideas? – and also a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$225Rue's Marker Wheel She Used To Create Her Doodles
Rue kept this large marker wheel right next to her desk in the home office of her Manhattan apartment. She bought the set at an art store down the street from her apartment and used it from the early 2000s until the end of her life; all of the “doodles” she created during that period were done with this set. She had other markers, as you can see in the initial inventory shot of all of her markers taken on her kitchen counter, but this was the she she kept open next to her desk and used every day. There are supposed to be 100 markers but the set is missing 11 of them. We are certain they still exist – at least most of them; some could have fallen into her office trash can by accident – and we’ll send them your way as they turn up in other boxes or crates. Rue’s marker wheel that she used to create her “doodles” comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$275Heart Locket on Sterling Chain [SOLD]
Although there are no pictures inside this 3/4″ heart-shaped locket, we think it may be the one Rue wore in the movie “Rusty: The Great Rescue,” a film she made back in 1997 with Hal Holbrook. The chain is sterling silver and 18″ long and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$114.14Rue's African Beaded Purse
Isn’t this a wonderful piece of art? Rue found this handmade beaded purse during a trip to Tangiers and she had to have it. It is very thin and holds practically nothing, so it is more a piece for displaying rather than a purse to actually carry; and besides, the 40″ beaded strap blew some beads – Rue taped it with some painters tape that was handy – so it really is being sold as a work or art and not a functional purse. The piece measures 13.5″ x 9.5″ and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
