Featured ItemsRue's Amazing Doodle Script From "The Golden Palace" [On Hold]
First of all, as we’ve mentioned before, so many of Rue’s things have coffee stains on them, and this piece is no exception. Second, we love how when Rue was doodling on something that she spilled coffee on she would incorporate the coffee stain into the design. Do you see the way she outlined each mark? Third, this is one of the most intricate of Rue’s script doodles; it takes up almost the entire cover! Forth, and finally, there are only a few of these left. Oh, wait, one more thing – a trivia fact. Margaret Cho, the comedian, made her television debut in this episode and almost 20-years later, during an appearance on “The View,” she talked about how nervous she was and credited Rue McClanahan for helping her and getting her through the experience. That is a young Margaret standing next to Rue at the piano during the filming. Rue’s doodle script from “The Golden Palace” comes with prints of the photos posted and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$2,500 NOW $1,250Rue's Signed and Framed Marquee Poster From "Picnic" [On Hold]
Rue and Gregory Harrison did it all together; meaning they did television, film and the stage. As for anything else….who’s to say except Mr. Harrison? Although have a look at his note to Rue…hmmmm…. No doubt about it, Gregory Harrison was and is S-E-X-Y! Anyway, they did a stage production and movie version of the show “Picnic” back in the ’80s, and this is a signed marquee poster from the production that was presented to Rue by the cast. The female lead of this production was none other than Jennifer Jason Leigh; she’s having a career resurgence right now, right? This 22″ x 14″ poster has been matted and set in a 25.25″ x 17.25″ frame. There appears to be some water damage to the top of the gold mat, but otherwise it seems to be in good condition. Rue’s signed and framed poster from “Picnic” comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$375 NOW $187.50Deep Red Garnet [SOLD]
Every gal ought to have a little faux alligator case filled with loose gemstones like Rue did. She bought fine stones whenever she came across them and then would have them set in custom pieces over the years. Here is one of her deep red garnets; the perfect rock to buy someone special (or yourself – your special!) and maybe have made into a piece you design some day. It measures 7/16″ long by just over .25″ wide. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$99Citrine or Imperial Topaz? - $79 [SOLD]
As you may already know, Rue had this little faux-alligator travel case that she filled with loose gemstones – she often purchased stones and then had them made into one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces (and just for the record, how fabulous is that?). Anyway, this particular rock is either a citrine or – the rarest Imperial topaz. If it is the former, it is known as the “Lucky Merchants Stone” and is to be put in a cash register for amazing results, and is used for healing problems with digestion, diabetes, constipation and depression – none of which Rue had, so maybe it worked. If it is the later, then we are letting a stone worth a fortune go for next to nothing (which, believe it or not, Rue would love!). The boulder is over half and inch long and about 3/8″ wide. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$79Rue's $1.69 Notebook That We Have Priced at $2,500 (WHAT!?) [On Hold]
We found this old notebook in a stack of Rue’s papers at the bottom of one of her file cabinets in the home office of her Manhattan apartment. The first thing we noticed is the coffee splatter marks on the cover and that let us know it was DEFINITELY Rue McClanahan’s! Before the old notebook hit the trashcan someone opened it up and just look at what was discovered – it is a treasure chest with over half a dozen of Rue’s “doodles” inside. If we had to assign levels to Rue’s “doodles” we’d have to say this notebook has a couple minor ones, a couple more that are pretty good examples of her work, and three that are unquestionably MAJOR! All the “doodles” are worthy of framing, even some of the little sketches in pencil, but that will be up to you. We were going to break the thing up and do the framing ourselves, but we decided to keep the piece intact, just as we found it. Rue’s “doodle” notebook comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$2,500 NOW $1,250Rue's "Nunsense 2" Cast and Crew Jacket [SOLD]
Remember when Rue and Betty played nuns on that hurricane episode of “The Golden Girls?” Well, turns out it was good practice for later years when Rue would play a nun in many “Nunsense” productions – and if you haven’t seen them they are hilarious. She loved working with the show’s creator, Danny Goggin, and was always willing to say ‘yes’ when he called for the next sequel. We found Rue’s “Nunsense 2″ coat in the hall closet of her Manhattan apartment and there was a terrible error on it. Monogramed on the front was “The Reu” instead of “The Rue!” I was so embarrassed for Mr. Goggin, I mean, he runs such a professional organization I couldn’t believe they would make such a silly mistake. I called him to ask what the heck had happened – he just returned from a production of “Nunsense” at the Muny in St. Louis for over 5,000 people, so I’m sure he really wanted to hear me calling to complain about monograming – and he said, “Um, it isn’t “The Reu” it is “The Rev,” with a v, because she played the Reverend Mother and everyone called her “The Rev.” Why isn’t there a reverse button in real life? So, here is Rue’s coat and I am still a dork! Comes with prints of the photos shown, one of Rue’s copies of the DVD, and a Certificate of Authenticity.
