Engraved Framed Photo from "The Women" - 2001 [DONATED]
Rue loved her role as Countess De Lage in the Broadway hit “The Women.” This original 5″ X 7″ black and white photo was shot on opening night. It was gifted to Rue by the show’s producers in an engraved silver metal 7.25″ x 9.25″ frame. Although it is a little scratched up from years of being handled in Rue’s apartment by just about everyone who walked through the door, the engraving is clear; it reads: “The Women November 8, 2001, Roundabout Theatre Company.” In the photo, in addition to other co-stars, you can see the two Jennifers behind Rue – Tilly and Coolidge. This is a piece of Broadway history here. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Elaine Stritch Signed Playbill To Rue [On Hold]
Elaine Stritch was a big Broadway star with a STRONG personality. Rue had the utmost respect for her talent and was a big fan of Ms. Stritch’s one-woman show – “Elaine Stritch At Liberty.” This is Rue’s Playbill from the show that Elaine Stritch signed to her. It reads: “To Rue love & peace Elaine Stritch.” The piece will come with prints of the photos showing Rue and Elaine together and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Hardbound and Soft Cover Albee Play [On Hold]
Rue was a fan of Edward Albee; who isn’t? She knew Mr. Albee personally, and actually introduced me to him at the Drama Desk Awards one year. I had read some of his early work in the ’70s and thought he must be a mad man, so it was a pleasant surprise to find him completely normal and seemingly sane. Here are two versions of the same play from Rue’s library, one softcover and the other hard. The hardbound volume belonged to someone Rue worked with on a project and she signed it over to Rue – there is in inscription in the front, as you can see – and that was when Rue first came to know the work of the writer many consider to be the best living playwright alive today. Rue’s pair of Albee plays come on the same Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Flying Pig Bar Soap Holder [On Hold]
Rue loved pigs. Thus, it makes sense that she would have a flying pig as her bar soap holder. We actually don’t think this piece was made for that purpose because the base is made of a light wood and has NOT done well getting wet every single day (you can see it is kind of lumpy now). However, a soap holder is what Rue used the piece for; it sat next to her kitchen sink offering up various bars of scented soaps to those who wanted to wash their hands for many, many years. Rue’s flying pig stands 7″ tall and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.

Rue's Framed Apache Wedding Blessing [On Hold]
This is a beautifully framed “Apache Wedding Blessing” that was written out by the calligrapher and artist Sherrie Lovler back in 1997. She also drew Native American designed drawings around the edge of the piece. Someone presented Rue with a framed copy of the blessing for her sixth wedding. Although the marriage broke up, Rue kept the blessing up on her bedroom wall because she loved the sentiments it expresses. The piece measures 12″ x 15″ and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue. We would write that this would make a perfect wedding gift except that Rue had six failed marriages and we don’t know if that would jinx the union or not!
