We wrote about Rue’s battles with the neighbors over the chimes when we posted and sold another set she owned. This is a pair of chimes that hung inside these large metal holders and these were probably the main culprits in “Rue’s Great Chime Battle.” The holders are gone, but the noisy chimes are still here. By the way, these are high quality, perfectly tuned chimes that sound wonderful when the wind blows, it is just that apparently not everyone in Manhattan wants to hear that noise at 3 AM. Rue taped the tubes to try and appease the neighbors, but to no avail. Eventually, she kept one set hanging against the wall where she could swing it out to blow when she was in the yard, but these two were relegated to the greenhouse. The wooden clapper on both has some deterioration from the elements, but all the pipes and the ceramic hanging things on both are in great shape. The pipes measure anywhere from 10.5″ to 15, but from tip-top to the bottom they are 2-feet long. This pair comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
