This script has more art than any other script Rue doodled on over the years. I placed it side-by-side with another script just so you can really see all the work on the cover. We don’t know if there were a lot of delays that week during the table read or what, but we do know that Rue went to town doodling on the cover of this one and it really does capture her humor and creativity. This was from the episode where her sister writes the novel, remember? Something you might not know is that the writer of this particular female drama episode was a young man who would go on to great fame – Marc Cherry, the creator of “Desperate Housewives.” Let’s see, in “The Golden Girls” you have four women living together in the same house and all the drama that goes along with that, and in “Desperate Housewives” you have four women living together on the same street and all the drama that goes along with that: Rose = Susan, Gabrielle = Blanche, so is Bree or Lynette Dorothy? Because whoever is left becomes Sophia! Anyway, as Mr. Colton pointed out: “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” Rue’s original “Doodle Script” comes with prints of the screen grabs shown and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
