Featured Items"Miss Craig's Face-Saving Exercises" and 13 Other Books from Rue's Library
Rue loved to read and she owned a room full of books. Each of the books in this collection of 14 titles will have a printed bookplate on the inside indicating the following: “From the Private Library of Rue McClanahan.” Although “Miss Craig’s Face-Saving Exercises” from 1970 is almost too good to let go – someone really ought to frame the inside cover – we have decided that it is time to clear out Rue’s books. This stack consists of six hardcover and eight softcover titles, and it includes a wonderful coffee table book about theatre. Comes with one Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
(We’ll pay shipping for US residents because we can use Media Mail, but out of Country must pay shipping – books are HEAVY! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll create a shipping button for you if you reside outside the United States.)
$275Delicate Beaded Necklace [SOLD]
We believe this beaded necklace is made by the woman who Rue bought most of her beaded jewelry from, and we think that might be her with Rue in the picture. What her name is, we haven’t a clue. Anyway, this 23.5″ beaded necklace is relatively simple and delicate. It has pink and green glass beads, and then what appear to be tiny freshwater pearls or pearl-type beads and then some little gold colored balls. Rue had commented in the past that all this woman’s jewelry was quite expensive – partially because each piece was a one-of-a-kind, but also because of the fine materials she used – so we might be giving treasures away again, but we believe once in awhile a gamble with pricing is in order because the worst case scenario is: one of Rue’s fans gets a great deal on a treasure – and that isn’t a bad thing. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
This is one of those household items of Rue’s that has practical value. If you are anything like Rue, you will use this yardstick all the time, too. Rue used this for any of the things one uses a yardstick for; she used it to measure stuff and to draw straight edges. But mostly, Rue used this yardstick with her sewing. In particular, she used this yardstick every time she worked on that quilt she spent 32-years finishing! I remember her using it one day when she was working on the ticking, or whatever it is called along the back of the quilt, and I said something sassy and this yardstick promptly cracked me right on the top of the head – Rue! Rue’s yardstick/weapon comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$99 NOW $49.50Rue's Shell From "Generation Gap"
Rue wore this shell in a movie she made with Ed Asner entitled “Generation Gap.” She adored Mr. Asner and had a real hoot working with him on the movie; as evidenced by the behind-the-scenes photo posted which was shot of them goofing off between takes. Even though the piece was designed by “Liz & Co.,” the blue knit top was altered by either the costumer for the movie, by Rue, or by both of them. It appears the lace trim was added along the neckline, and that was probably done by the costumer due to the quality of the stitching. There were gussets added to the sides to give it more room, and that was possibly done by Rue, since she did that to most of her tops. And the sleeves were roughly chopped off since the top was being worn under a coat – transforming it from a long-sleeved sweater to a shell – and that was almost definitely done by Rue since she HATED being too hot and was not afraid to attack a piece of clothing with scissors if she was cooking under the bright lights. Rue’s “shell” from the movie “Generation Gap” comes with prints of the photos posted and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$275 NOW $137.50Rue's Cat-Peeking-Over-Shelf Piece
We always look for pictures of Rue with the items that we post, and we were thrilled when we found this little cat statue in PERFECT photographs because the cat is peeking in on the edge or at the top of the frame. What a hoot! The porcelain piece measures 9.5″ deep, it is 4.25″ wide and 4.5″ high. Rue’s peeking cat comes with prints of the photos posted and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$375Rue's Framed Apache Wedding Blessing
This is a beautifully framed “Apache Wedding Blessing” that was written out by the calligrapher and artist Sherrie Lovler back in 1997. She also drew Native American designed drawings around the edge of the piece. Someone presented Rue with a framed copy of the blessing for her sixth wedding. Although the marriage broke up, Rue kept the blessing up on her bedroom wall because she loved the sentiments it expresses. The piece measures 12″ x 15″ and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue. We would write that this would make a perfect wedding gift except that Rue had six failed marriages and we don’t know if that would jinx the union or not!
