Featured ItemsOne of Rue's Prescription Bottles
Here is another one of Rue’s prescription bottles. The bottle is empty, naturally, but it does have the printed label with Rue’s name on it. As we’ve written before, what a hoot it would be to place this in your medicine chest and then NOT tell anyone, just to see who peaks when they use your bathroom. How could they not say something if they saw this?! Rue’s prescription bottle comes with a Certificate of Authenticity form Estate of Rue.
$275Rue's Depression Era Footed Mini Pedestal
Rue owned a few mini-display platters, and there was no better feeling than walking into her Manhattan apartment and seeing one of them out on the sideboard or on the kitchen counter with a little treat waiting for you. Rue loved to bake and I can’t tell you the number of cupcakes that waited for me on this little platter over the years. This small piece is ideal for that single cupcake or a slice of warm banana bread, a wedge of cake, etc…. It measures 5.75″ across and stands 1.5″ high. It appears to be cut glass with a silver plated base. Rue’s Depression Era mini-display platter comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$275Rue's Original Signed SAG Agency Contract for 1991 - For Television Movies [SOLD]
Did you know Rue made about 70 movies in her lifetime? In fact, many of those made are now shown on the Lifetime Chanel, but that is neither here nor there. Anyway, since she made movies for both theatrical release and for television, she had to execute contracts for each type. This original 8.5″ x 11″ 2-page agreement, with one page being 2-sided, is for movies she made to be shown on television. Like the other agreements Rue entered into as professional actress, since she incorporated herself, she always had to have a “Corporate Rider” to her contracts; this rider basically said as corporate president she was binding herself as the actress to the agreement – weird, eh? Not only did the corporation save Rue a lot of money in taxes and give her a way to write her hair appointments off on her tax returns, but it resulted in her agreements having THREE ORIGINAL SIGNATURES! This original contract with three of Rue’s original signatures comes with an 8″ x 10″ headshot taken during that time period and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$175 NOW $87.50Engraved Framed Photo from "The Women" - 2001 [DONATED]
Rue loved her role as Countess De Lage in the Broadway hit “The Women.” This original 5″ X 7″ black and white photo was shot on opening night. It was gifted to Rue by the show’s producers in an engraved silver metal 7.25″ x 9.25″ frame. Although it is a little scratched up from years of being handled in Rue’s apartment by just about everyone who walked through the door, the engraving is clear; it reads: “The Women November 8, 2001, Roundabout Theatre Company.” In the photo, in addition to other co-stars, you can see the two Jennifers behind Rue – Tilly and Coolidge. This is a piece of Broadway history here. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$250Original Martha Swope 8" x 10" Stage Shot
Martha Swoop is one of the most prolific and successful dance and theatre photographers in the world. This is an original rehearsal shot that she took of Rue in her early career. If we knew who the man was, we could figure out the show. Do you know? We’re thinking this may be “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” but Rue looks a little too young for her turn as Martha. If you know, please email us at email@example.com. Ms. Swoop stamped this piece, so it is clearly marked as one of her photographs. Remember, because the photographer is famous, the piece is already highly collectible, but when you add in that it was OWNED by the Rue McClanahan, the provenance goes off the chart! Rue’s Martha Swoop original 8″ x 10″ comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$325 NOW $162.50Rue's "Magnolia" Tunic
Here is another piece Rue owned that was made by her dear friend Grace Martin. Rue had to alter the piece slightly by sewing the center, cleavage-closing fabric into the bodice after a wardrobe malfunction left her…ahem….exposed. The silk is gorgeous. The piece is kind of a one-size-fits-all tunic and there is a label sewn in that reads: “It’s A Magnolia by Grace Martin.” Rue’s print silk tunic comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
