Rue’s Primitive Mammy Style Doll [SOLD]

Rue collected dolls, and this was one of the prized babies in her little family. You can see her “Mammy” sitting next to her during a photo shoot for a magazine at the height of “The Golden Girls.” She liked to make clothes for her dolls, so any of these pieces may have been made by her – we’re particularly intrigued by the Winnie-the-pooh piping on the skirt and the blue silken panties. This is a beautiful example of Black Americana Folk Art and it should possibly be in a museum, but Rue wanted all her things to go to her fans, so here is your chance to own a wonderful piece of African American history coupled with a celebrity ownership provenance. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
