This interesting piece is one of four that Rue purchased from the same artist in the ’80s. They are not signed, but we know they were created by the same person because of the distinct eye image that appears on all of them. This substantial 17.5″ long x 14″ wide hand-painted ceramic treasure usually sat in either the foyer or dining room of Rue’s Manhattan apartment. It has a beautiful, aged patina, but it isn’t chipping or anything, that must be the way it was originally painted. In addition to the big cow on the inside, the underside has five cows forever marching in a circle. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
