Featured ItemsRue's Fabulous St. John Outfit from "Law & Order" [SOLD]
I was with Rue the day the wardrobe mistress from “Law & Order” took her shopping, and this outfit cost over $4,000! Can you imagine? Anyway, as per her contract, Rue always got to keep her costumes, and since she was playing a wealthy Park Avenue widow – who supposedly had an illegitimate son with President Kennedy – Rue steered the wardrobe mistress to the St. John Flagship Store on Fifth Avenue (she knew she wanted something she would wear again – smart Rue!). Here it is, four fabulous pieces. The pants and jacket are both size 14, the top is “L” and the studded, rhinestoned encrusted tie is 5.5″ long. Immediately after filming the episode, Rue wore the jacket and tie to the “Sordid Lives” release party – those pictures are of her with her co-stars and the series/movie creator. We realize that this is a pricier item on the site, but the reality is – even if it weren’t owned by Rue McClanahan – this outfit is a STEAL at twice the price!
$750 NOW $375Bea's Personalized Gift to her Friend Rue in the '70s [SOLD]
Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur were friends, real friends. I was with Rue the day that Bea died and she was reminiscing about their relationship – with “Maude” and “The Golden Girls” they had worked together for 14 years – and there was a lot of emotion in the stories she told. I also attended Bea’s Memorial Service with Rue, and I can assure you Rue loved Bea. Clearly, the feelings were reciprocated. You can see it in their off camera photos together and you can see it in this gift that Bea had custom made for her friend way back during the “Maude” years in the 1970s. This heavy 13.5″ square mirrored plaque demonstrates Bea’s respect and admiration for Rue’s abilities as an actor with the star symbol next to her name and the word “Superstar,” but it also show Bea’s feelings for Rue with the phrase “Superlove.” We realize this is a high price point for an item on the site, but we believe the piece – a personal one-of-a-kind gift from one Internationally famous celebrity to another – is actually priceless. We want to make sure if someone does buy it, they realize its worth and it will be taken care of accordingly. And, if it doesn’t sell, we’re fine with that, too. It looks really good right here on the office wall and you can’t help but smile every time you look at it.
$5,000Why Was This Red Plastic Bauble in Rue's Jewelry Box? [SOLD]
We have absolutely no idea how this huge red adjustable plastic ring landed in Rue’s jewelry box – alongside diamonds and emeralds – but it was there. It is almost 1.5″ across and is another 1.5″ from the bottom of the band to the surface of the “stone.” It is a mystery, but there is one thing for sure, it belonged to Rue McClanahan and thus will come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$14.14Engraved Framed Photo from "The Women" - 2001 [DONATED]
Rue loved her role as Countess De Lage in the Broadway hit “The Women.” This original 5″ X 7″ black and white photo was shot on opening night. It was gifted to Rue by the show’s producers in an engraved silver metal 7.25″ x 9.25″ frame. Although it is a little scratched up from years of being handled in Rue’s apartment by just about everyone who walked through the door, the engraving is clear; it reads: “The Women November 8, 2001, Roundabout Theatre Company.” In the photo, in addition to other co-stars, you can see the two Jennifers behind Rue – Tilly and Coolidge. This is a piece of Broadway history here. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$250Rue's Etched Sterling Silver Ear Cuff (Not a Nose Ring, Right?)
This can’t be a nose ring, right? I mean, none of us ever saw Rue wear a nose ring, so it must be an ear cuff, right? Yet, it sure does LOOK like a nose ring, right? But why on Earth would Rue McClanahan own a nose ring? Unless she bought it by mistake; sometimes even world class shoppers stumble. Not that anything is WRONG with nose rings; they just aren’t Rue’s style. Anyway, this beautiful sterling silver piece is hand etched with what Rue would call a “sweet” and “precious” little floral motif. If you purchase this item be sure and send us in a photo if you happen to wear it in your nose so we can put it in Rue’s permanent archive, because this would certainly be the only nose ring she owned (but it CAN’T be a nose ring, right?). Rue’s etched, sterling silver thing comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
$175 NOW $87.50Rue's Mini Avon Breast Cancer Awareness Pin
I think I’ve told you this story before: I remember when Rue told me about her battle with breast cancer. It was a beautiful spring evening and we were riding in the back of a limousine through Central Park. She told me about the fear when she was first told the news, how she almost fainted, and about the horrors of treatment. However, the story had a happy ending because Rue McClanahan beat breast cancer and was alive to sit in the back of that limo with me and enjoy the gorgeous spring foliage in Central Park. Rue gave a lot of herself to support breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis, and support for the victims of the wretched disease. This is a mini-pin that Rue used to wear on her lapel. The pink ribbon was made by Avon and it measures one inch long. Rue’s breast cancer awareness pin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
