As we’ve previously written, whenever Rue travelled, as soon as she got some “me time” she headed straight for the antique stores. One of the doormen at her Manhattan apartment once remarked that even if he didn’t know Ms. McClanahan had gone out of town, he knew as soon as the boxes started arriving every day. Here is a fine piece of porcelain that Rue picked up on her travels. It is a hand-painted pink roses plate that measures about 11.5″ across. Rue used to keep these large platter-type plates in the sideboard in her Manhattan apartment and – no matter how rare or valuable they were – she’d use them to serve off of at parties. You can see this plate on the floor in front of the sideboard during out initial inventory, and you can see the sideboard in the photo of Rue with MJL taken during a meeting about her one-woman show. This plate will come with copies of the two photos shown and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
