Here is a rare piece of “Golden Girls” history! The “Girls” were one of two American acts invited to England by Queen Elizabeth for a 1988 Royal Variety Show. Rue and Betty White both wrote about their experiences doing the “Command Performance” at The Palladium in London, and their respective descriptions are so telling about what they were like in their personal lives: Betty’s is very specific and proper, and Rue talks more about the guy she brought with who didn’t give her any “action” and mentions that Princess Margaret was “looped!” This collection includes the four 5″ x 7″ stage shots Rue was presented with as mementos – one of which shows the “Girls” bowing to the royals, and the two drafts of the script put together for the performance. Although there is some original material in the two drafts of the 13-paged script, the true “Golden Girls” fan will recognize some lines from popular episodes. Both versions are highlighted for Rue’s lines. The collection comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
