This is an interesting find and a real collector’s item. We assumed that since this is a leather bound, embossed folder for the show “The Baxters” it contained a script from the late ’70s – early ’80s television show (Which was created by Rue’s favorite, Norman Lear, by the way, and starred one of her roommates from the ’70s, Anita Gillette). In fact, Rue apparently chucked the script and used the sturdy folder to work on the book for the musical she wrote with her second ex-husband – “Oedipus Shmedipus, As Long As You Love Your Mother.” As you can see from the included press clipping and photos, Rue and her ex Norman actually completed the piece and Rue produced it to rave reviews! This version of the book is heavily annotated in Rue’s hand and gives you an intimate glimpse into her creative process. Comes with five 4″ x 6″ reprints: Rue during a professional shoot with music from the show at her piano; a copy of the cover of the final book she registered with The Writers’ Guild of America; the article about the show; an “in costume” cast photo – including Rue – that she signed to her ex-husband/collaborator Norman; and an informal cast shot which, again, includes Rue. Also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
