This custom made 3-piece outfit was designed by “Golden Girls” costume designer Judy Evans for Rue’s character “Blanche,” and Rue wore the outfit on Episode 16 of the only season of the short-lived spin-off “The Golden Palace.” The outfit seems to be a raw silk skirt and top, both with beaded accents, and a wispy, gauzy-type cover up, with a beaded scarf sewn on. Just in case you plan on buying this as something other than a collectable, be warned that although the cover up is voluminous and could fit a large range of sizes, the skirt and top are on the small side (Remember, back then Rue was 5′ 4″ and weight about 130 pounds soaking wet – so you’re looking at about a 30″ waist, with a bust of about 36″). Also, the cup liners in the top have dried out and are like sawdust inside, so they’ll have to be replaced or removed if you want to comfortably wear this. Comes with four 4″ x 6″ stills of Rue wearing the outfit: one on a cruise with someone we can’t identify; one with some of her fellow cast mates from when she was in “The Women” on Broadway; one with the beautiful and talented K Callan, and one with twin studs. Also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
