There used to be more of these, but Rue’s parties could be raucous affairs and only five of these fine bone china pieces survive. Of course, Wedgwood is the best when it comes to china and so this is what Rue liked to eat off of; that is when she wasn’t eating off her plastic plates! Anyway, you can see from the photos that she used them all the time. In the first series of three pictures taken the day Obama was sworn in at Rue’s inauguration party – hence the red, white, and blue outfit – you can see the plates on the counter. The woman in the blue shirt was telling a funny story about helping Rue with her memoir and she made reference to how difficult it is to write a book; she didn’t then realize that the woman with her back to the camera in black has written over 30 books that have sold millions of copies around the world. What a hoot it was when she figured it out! You can also see them on the counter when Rue’s voice coach is going for a piece of her amazing lemon poppyseed cake. Finally, you can see one of these plates on the footstool in front of Rue during a business meeting for her one-woman show. The plates are 6.75″ across and they come with prints of all the photos shown and a Certificate of Authenticity from Estate of Rue.
